Gastrointestinal Research
Intestinal cell and enzyme systems for gastrointestinal research.
Gastrointestinal research connects epithelial biology, local metabolism and immune responses. Cellular models and subcellular fractions provide different views of these processes. MileCell animal intestinal epithelial cells, intestinal microsomes and S9 fractions support selected studies of intestinal responses and biotransformation, with primary immune cells available for separately validated interaction models.
Research Solutions for Gastrointestinal Research
Intestinal Epithelial Responses
Study cellular responses using primary intestinal epithelial cells from a species appropriate to the experiment. The reviewed category lists mouse, rat, dog, monkey and minipig products. Establish morphology and cell identity before measuring compound effects. Barrier or permeability studies require additional validation of polarity, junctions and functional transport in the chosen culture format.
Intestinal Metabolism
Use intestinal microsomes or S9 fractions to investigate enzyme-mediated biotransformation outside an intact-cell system. Compare intestinal and liver fractions when tissue-dependent metabolism is relevant. Define species, enzyme activity, cofactors and analytical recovery for each experiment. These enzyme systems address metabolism and do not measure intestinal absorption or barrier permeability.
Immune–Epithelial Interaction Models
Combine independently qualified epithelial cultures with PBMCs or monocytes to explore selected inflammatory interactions. Check species compatibility, medium conditions and baseline cytokine responses before interpreting a co-culture effect. MileCell supplies the cellular components, while the assembled model requires its own validation. Disease-derived organoids and microbiome components must be sourced separately when required.

FAQs
Does MileCell offer human intestinal epithelial cells here?
The reviewed category lists animal products. Confirm current availability with the team if a human model is required.
Can intestine S9 be used as a permeability model?
No. S9 is an enzyme-containing fraction. Permeability requires an intact and functionally validated epithelial barrier system.
